Vopium, an award-winning mobile VoIP provider that offers low-cost, high-quality calling to more than 1 million users in 52 countries, is announcing immediate availability of its upgraded iPhone app.
The update, Version 2.1, available from iTunes here, offers these significant enhancements:
- An in-app payment feature that enables a user to conveniently top up an account in iTunes instead of having to enter credit card details for calls to non-Vopium users.
- A presence indication of Vopium contacts for push-notification-based calling. This feature increases the likelihood of free calls by ensuring that Wi-Fi/3G calls go through even when the app is in the background or closed. The moment the app is launched, Vopium users among a customer’s contacts are highlighted.

The updated iPhone app follows Vopium’s announcements of the first real BlackBerry Wi-Fi calling app and an upgraded Android app.
