Mitek Systems was featured today in The San Diego Union-Tribune's SignOnSanDiego.com in an article on mobile banking titled, "Apps let people save time and bypass the bank." In the story, Tamara Chuang explains how the Mobile Deposit® service works by using Mitek's patented image recognition technology that compresses check images and sends it remotely to the bank.
"While savvy customers have relied on a home PC to minimize trips to the local branch, they still had to trudge to an ATM to deposit checks. Thanks to mobile image-recognition software from San Diego’s Mitek Systems, smartphones can snap a photo of a check and send it electronically to a bank account. Chase rolled the service to Android and iPhone users last year. Bank of America plans to do the same in 2012."
