As a media partner of eComm since its birth three years ago, we’ve seen the Emerging Communications conference evolve to predict what the next innovations in telecom, mobile and internet communications will be for the year ahead. The next event, taking place June 27-29 at the San Francisco Airport Marriott, however feels like a milestone for this young conference after eComm founder and organizer Lee Dryburgh missed attending last year when volcanic ash cancelled his flight from Slovenia to San Francisco. Besides (hopefully) seeing Lee next week, we’re looking forward to the following talks from these forward-thinking speakers:
- The Future of Intelligent Voice Services – How much valuable information is left out of
handwritten notes and how many breakthroughs forgotten after an important call ends? Kelly Fitzsimmons, founder of HarQen, a voice management platform company, has experience in the information security space and a passion for intelligent voice data management systems. Kelly will speak about the emergence of Relevant Voice Platforms (RVPs) and how making voice actionable leads to significant productivity gains.
- How to Commercialize Your Product/Service: Matt Bramson, who manages global marketing and sales for InPhonex, has a passion for commercializing novel ideas. In his 20-year career, Matt has focused on taking groundbreaking technology products to market, using creative strategies and
overcoming odds. On Wednesday he will share his “secret sauce” to achieve market agility: by looking at distribution differently; by broadening the channel base, thereby opening up new markets to new customers and driving adoption of new products and services; and by employing asymmetrical approaches that adapt your products to the needs of the new channel's customers.
- How Wireless Technology Can Address the Bandwidth Challenge: The FCC's National Broadband Plan predicted mobile data traffic in North America would increase by roughly 20 to 45 times between 2009 and 2014, however current data suggests these numbers may be exceeded.
Beginning with a background of cellular evolution from second generation through LTE-Advanced, InterDigital's Jim Nolan, EVP of Research and Development, will address new approaches to cellular technology that promise improved spectral efficiency, use new spectrum, and rely on new network architectures. Jim will provide a quantitative assessment, and sets the goal.
HarQen and InPhonex are also sponsoring the event along with Hookflash, desktop/mobile VoIP software innovator CounterPath and local DID and toll-free numbers provider Voxbone.
